About TipLedger
TipLedger is restaurant tip distribution software that replaces spreadsheets and pen-and-paper tip-outs. You set your own tip split rules by role and shift type, managers enter each shift's sales, tips and hours, and TipLedger calculates each person's share from those rules and numbers, keeps an activity log, and lets you download tip and shift records as CSV.
The rules are yours. Owners and managers are responsible for reviewing the results and making sure their tip policies follow the laws that apply to them.
Meet the founder
TipLedger was founded by Kaminski Daley, who worked as a restaurant payroll manager for about three years. In that role, Kaminski checked weekly hours and tip hours, worked out how tips were shared among servers, bussers, runners and other staff, and reviewed leave, sick time and pay records. That work was done alongside payroll systems such as ADP and Paycor.
Checking tip allocations and preparing payroll by hand, week after week, showed Kaminski how easy it is for small errors to slip in and how long it takes to trace them. TipLedger grew out of that work: a way to keep the tip math and the records behind it in one place, so the numbers handed to payroll are easier to check.
What we stand for
Privacy by design
Employees sign in with a name code and a manager-set PIN. The tip software doesn't ask for employee Social Security numbers, bank details, home addresses or phone numbers.
Built for independents
TipLedger is made for owner-operated restaurants, bars and cafés. Each plan covers one location today; Multi-Location is coming soon and can't be purchased yet.
Transparent by design
Each payout shows how it was reached from your rules and the numbers you entered. Seeing the breakdown can help staff and managers settle questions faster.
Honest pricing
Flat monthly pricing for the software. You can start the app's 30-day trial without a card. Each restaurant gets one trial. A paid subscription begins only if you choose a plan and complete checkout: subscribing during the trial means your first charge is when the trial ends, after it the first charge is at checkout, and paid plans renew automatically until you cancel.
What you get
TipLedger software — Starter and Professional
- Tip pooling rules, daily shift entry, weekly tip and shift reports, an activity log and an employee view.
- The 30-day free trial and both paid plans include the same features today.
- Self-service CSV download of tip and shift records, which you import or re-key into your payroll provider. There is no direct connection to ADP, Paycor, Gusto or any other payroll system.
Payroll Bookkeeping — separate paid service
- Opt-in and paid. Not included in any software plan, and no free trial.
- You supply the actual figures from your payroll provider's reports. TipLedger prepares draft calendar-quarter and calendar-year summaries and flags exceptions, our operator reviews them, and you approve before downloading.
- You can choose optional report sections; the core figures are always included.
- A price and online checkout have not been set. Right now you can only send a request, which doesn't start a trial or grant access.
Neither the software nor the bookkeeping service runs payroll, calculates, pays, files or remits taxes, issues W-2s or 1099s, decides worker classification, or audits or certifies compliance.
